Pizza Hut Cheese Sticks (Printable Version)

Gooey mozzarella and parmesan cheese baked on homemade dough with garlic and oregano, served with marinara for dipping.

# Ingredients:

→ Dough

01 - 1 ½ tbsp granulated sugar
02 - 1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
03 - 1 tsp active dry yeast
04 - 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
05 - ¼ tsp kosher salt
06 - 2 tbsp warm water (110°F), divided
07 - ½ cup warm water (110°F), divided
08 - 2 tbsp unsalted butter, thinly sliced
09 - 1 egg yolk, lightly beaten

→ Assembly

10 - ½ cup unsalted butter, melted, divided
11 - 8 oz shredded mozzarella
12 - 2 tbsp grated parmesan cheese
13 - ¼ tsp garlic salt
14 - ¼ tsp dried oregano
15 - marinara sauce for dipping

# Steps:

01 - In a small bowl, combine the yeast with half of the warmed water (heated to 110°F) and set aside for 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
02 - In a large bowl, place the thinly sliced butter, sugar, and salt. Pour the remaining warm water into the butter mixture and allow it to sit while the yeast activates.
03 - After 5 minutes, whisk the butter mixture until somewhat combined. Add the egg yolk and yeast mixture to the bowl, then stir in the flour until just incorporated.
04 - Prepare a 9×13 baking dish by brushing it with 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Spread the dough evenly in the dish, cover with plastic wrap, and let rest for 15 minutes.
05 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Remove the plastic wrap from the dough, brush the top with the remaining melted butter, and generously sprinkle with mozzarella, parmesan, garlic salt, and oregano.
06 - Bake for 28-31 minutes, until the edges are deep golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
07 - Allow the breadsticks to cool for 10 minutes before cutting into 8 even pieces. Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping.

# Notes:

01 - For best results, ensure water temperature is exactly 110°F to properly activate the yeast without killing it.
